For nearly 50 years Concept2 has engineered equipment that helps people reach their fitness goals – no matter how small or big those goals are. We constantly strive to create innovative products that last and can be retrofitted not only to improve your Erg but also to create a machine better suited for you as an individual. Below are a few ways to optimize and customize your Erg for you and your goals.
Device Holders for all Ergs
Device holders are now available for most of our Ergs and Performance Monitors. Device holders are adjustable and can be used with a device as small as a cell phone to larger tablets like the 12.9 inch Apple iPad Pro. Use the device holder with training apps on your Erg of choice, to watch your favorite shows, or to use Ergdata to see your metrics from the Performance Monitor 5 (PM5) on a greater scale and with even more data and multiple views to choose from.

If your Erg is not compatible with a device holder, try our cell phone cradle.
PM5 Monitor for all Ergs
Upgrade your old performance monitor with the latest and greatest PM5. Enjoy wireless Bluetooth and ANT+ connections to apps and heart rate monitoring. The backlit visibility and elimination of log cards are huge improvements from previous performance monitors as well.

RowErg Upgrades and Retrofits
The Concept2 rowing machine has long delivered an effective full-body, low impact workout. From the Model A to the RowErg, our rowers have become the standard for training, testing, and racing for a wide range of users. But before you trade in your older model for the newest RowErg, did you know about all these available upgrades? (Note: need help identifying your rowing machine? Check out our support page, or email us at [email protected] and we can assist!)
Tall Legs Retrofit Kit
The tall legs retrofit kit lets you take your Model C, D, or RowErg up six inches to a taller seat height of 20 inches. We recommend this for folks that might have trouble getting on and off their rower. If you have limited mobility or flexibility with your knees or hips, the tall legs retrofit kit can help with that. It also makes it easier for users in wheelchairs to transfer from their chair to the rowing machine seat.
Foot Straps
The Concept2 RowErg foot strap buckle got a revamp in 2023. The updated buckle on the foot strap allows you to quickly tighten and release your feet from the Flexfoot. While these come standard on all current machines, the foot strap is available to purchase for all previous machines on our online shop. Not sure to get the 24” foot straps or the 30” foot straps? Use our support page, or email us at [email protected] to help identify your machine.
Handle
Do you currently have a wooden handle on your Model A, B, or C, and are looking to upgrade to something more ergonomic? It is simple and easy to replace it with a new indoor rower handle with grips. The overmolded grips are made of soft rubber that will not absorb sweat, grease, or dirt. With a slight angle, combined with the overall shape, the handle simulates the arm position of on-water rowing and provides a comfortable rowing position throughout the rowing stroke.

Or maybe you want to go old school with your newer Concept2 RowErg? Swap your current handle for the retro wood handle.
Tractor Seat
The tractor seat is an alternative seat option for those looking for a wider, more stable seat that can be retrofitted on all Concept2 rowers. It is important to note that the tractor seat has a slight seat back and it does limit the range of motion of a traditional rowing stroke at the end of the drive. The tractor seat can be purchased directly from Concept2 at 1.800.245.5676 and is not able to come already installed on a new RowErg. It must be purchased separately and is not for sale on our website.
BikeErg Upgrades and Retrofits
The Concept2 BikeErg has proven to be a bullet proof machine with a reliable and consistent cycling experience. Customizing, upgrading, and making sure you have the perfect fit for your BikeErg can make your workout that much better for you. Considering enhancing your machine? Be sure to check your BikeErg’s serial number before you start – to learn more, head to our BikeErg support page.
Toe Clips
Looking to increase your pedal stroke efficiency? The BikeErg Toe Clips allow your feet to stay put on the pedals, even when pedaling at higher intensities and RPM or when pedaling out of the saddle. Toe clips are easily installed with a flathead screwdriver and are compatible with all BikeErg pedals manufactured after October 29, 2018. Contact Concept2 directly for toe clips to fit older BikeErgs.
Customize Your BikeErg with Your Own Pedals or Saddle
If you prefer to use your own bike saddle or pedals on your BikeErg, this is certainly an option. Remove the flat pedals on the BikeErg with a 6mm allen key or a 15mm pedal wrench. Remove the left pedal by turning clockwise, and the right pedal by turning counterclockwise. Use the opposite crank for leverage. For the pedals that you want to install, follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and do not forget to grease the threads of the pedals before installing. To replace the saddle, loosen the nuts that hold the saddle in place, and swap with the new one. Be sure to adjust to your appropriate seat angle.
Seat Post Heights for Short and Tall Leg Lengths
Before you purchase your BikeErg, it might be worth checking your inside leg measurement if you are on the taller or shorter side. Although the BikeErg seat post length accommodates almost all leg lengths (inside leg measurements between 28in –37in), there are some that fall outside of this range. If your inside leg measurements are between 26in – 35in you may want to consider the BikeErg with Low Seat (PN 2910), or the Low Seat retrofit assembly (PN 2855) if you already own a machine. If your inside leg measurements are between 31in – 41in, you may want to consider the Tall Seat Post Assembly (2837) if you already own a machine. Give us a call at 1.800.245.5676 to order these options directly with Concept2 – they are not available to purchase online.
SkiErg Upgrades and Retrofits
Originally designed as a training tool for cross country skiers, the Concept2 SkiErg has since been embraced by snow athletes and fitness fanatics alike. Customizations to the SkiErg make it easier for all users to have a great workout, regardless of if they are seated, standing, have it wall mounted or on the floor stand, or an older SkiErg1.
Handle Hooks
SkiErg handle hooks make it easy for you to reach the handles from a standing or sitting position – making it accessible for all athletes to get a great workout. The handle hooks are compatible with the SkiErg2, however they will not work with the older SkiErg1 model, which is grey or silver in color. The SkiErg handle hooks are quick and easy to install – only requiring the two handle hooks, the fasteners, and a T27 6-lobe driver tool which comes with the SkiErg2 to assemble. The handle hooks are placed next to the PM5 monitor, making them easily accessible for all users.
SkiErg Floor Stand
The Concept2 SkiErg floor stand makes the SkiErg free standing, allowing you to use the SkiErg anywhere, unlike that of wall mounting the SkiErg. Featuring steel supports and a laminated wooden base, our floor stands are tough and well-built. Caster wheels allow for ease of movement, and an anti-skid, wear-resistant base offers firm footing. The floor stands are available in two widths – standard and wide. The wide floor stand is 8 inches wider than the standard option and is a great option for those who prefer or need a bit more space and is perfect for those who use the SkiErg in a seated position. The wide floor stand also accommodates most wheelchairs.
Strapless Green Handles
Ditch the strap handles and find the comfort of the green SkiErg2 handles on your SkiErg1. Swapping to green handles is super easy and a great way to familiarize yourself with your SkiErg1 inner workings. You can find the handles for purchase here as well as the instructions on how to replace them here.
