Kyle Senesac spent time in Bend, Oregon, and Bozeman, Montana, before returning to his native Vermont to complete his college education. “I decided that I missed the people and the lush vegetation of Vermont, so I enrolled at Johnson State and finished my degree in Psychology.”
For a while after college, he worked at a local residential program for troubled teens. He then joined Concept2 in 2011 to become a member of our Oar Production Team.
Kyle enjoys working as a member of the Oar Team, “We have some good belly laughs in our department!” His work includes custom-building oars, from molding and cutting blades to assembly and inspection. He also does some traveling with the Regatta Service team, though he’s done less of this in the past two years in order to have more time at home with his family. About Regatta Service work, Kyle says, “I enjoy meeting the rowers and receiving direct feedback about our oars. I especially love seeing Concept2’s values of exceptional customer service and standing behind their product no matter the age of the oars.”
Before joining Concept2, Kyle’s only experience with rowing was using the indoor rower in gyms. He has yet to try rowing on the water, but he can often be found mountain biking or trail running in summer, and Nordic skiing in winter. For indoor workouts, he’s lucky to have a built-in training partner and coach—his wife, Melissa, who is a certified CrossFit instructor at local Green Mountain CrossFit. “She comes up with the workout, and I just try to keep up,” says Kyle.
In his spare time, Kyle enjoys woodworking projects using reclaimed materials. Most recently, he built a farmhouse dining room table using 4x4s and wide pine flooring from an old house. He has also volunteered with Lamoille County Restorative Center coaching mountain biking for kids and has mentored teens in a CrossFit program.
Kyle and Melissa are the proud parents of two daughters, aged 7 and 5.
