Clean before and after every row, ski, or ride, making sure to clean grips, handlebars, and other common touch surfaces. Concept2 suggests two readily available options. (You only need to use one option, not both.)
If contact surfaces are dirty and/or oily, first clean with a detergent or soap and water prior to disinfecting.
Mix a dilution of 1/3 cup of standard household bleach (6%) per gallon of water to clean indoor equipment. Apply and leave wet for a minimum of 1 minute, then wipe down with a damp paper towel (water). Avoid spraying electronics directly. The diluted bleach solution will be effective for disinfection for up to 24 hours.
Apply a liberal amount of alcohol (minimum 70%, either isopropanol or ethanol) using a clean rag or paper towel. Allow the alcohol to air dry on the surface. Avoid spraying electronics directly.
For more information, refer to CDC and EPA guidelines for alternative products and recommended contact times. Always the follow manufacturer's instructions.
Clean grips before and after every row. Concept2 suggests two readily available options for disinfecting oars. (You only need to use one option, not both.)
If contact surfaces are dirty and/or oily, first clean with a detergent or soap and water prior to disinfecting. Scrubbing with a nylon bristled brush can help remove buildup.
Mix a dilution of 1/3 cup of standard household bleach (6%) per gallon of water to clean oar grips. Apply and leave wet for a minimum of 1 minute, then rise with fresh water and air dry. Clean grips before and after every row. The diluted bleach solution will be effective for disinfection for up to 24 hours.
Do not soak wood handles. Clean and scrub with diluted bleach, then rinse with fresh water and air dry.
Treat as other grips, above, but only scrub gently with a soft-bristled brush. Excess abrasion will prematurely wear suede grips.
(Warning: Do not use alcohol to clean microfiber suede grips. It will degrade the adhesive and cause the suede to peel from the grip core. Alcohol is a safe alternative method to use with all other grip types.)
