Concept2 oars are available with adjustable composite handles, fixed composite handles and traditional wood handles. The types of grips available to you depend on what handle you choose.
Handle Options
Adjustable Composite
The composite handle is the lightest handle we make. Its adjustable range lets you easily change the overall length of your oar. The Length Adjustment System uses a bonded composite handle with a structural outside grip that is capable of a 5 cm range of length adjustment.
Unique features:
- Simple, three-step process adjusts oar length.
- Redundant design for safety: The grip is keyed to the handle to prevent rotation.
- Continuous choice of settings over the entire five centimeter range. Each turn of the adjusting screw results in a length change of approximately 0.25 cm.
- Oars are marked at the handle to indicate overall length of the oar in centimeters.
- Worn grips or damaged parts are easily replaced.
- Low-stress, wiggle-free connection withstands heavy use and extends the life of the handle.
Fixed Composite
Fixed composite handles are available in narrow or medium sizes with Ultralight shafts only. Choose fixed length handles only if you are certain you will not need to change the length of your oars.

Microfiber Suede
Compatible Handles: Adjustable Composite
Outer Hand Diameter: Two sizes: 32 mm, 34.5 mm
Texture: Soft, synthetic suede texture
Maintenance: Adhesive-backed patch is easy to replace and requires more frequent replacement
Contoured Orange
Compatible Handles: Adjustable Composite
Outer Hand Diameter: Two sizes: Thin 32mm, Medium 33.5 mm
Texture: Radial contoured and firm brushed texture
Maintenance: Durable and easy to clean
Ice Blue and Azure Blue Rubber
Compatible Handles: Fixed Composite, Adjustable Composite
Outer Hand Diameter: 32.5 mm–37.5 mm depending on handle, refer to diameter chart
Texture: Firm with longitudinal ribs
Maintenance: Durable and easy to clean
Black Rubber
Compatible Handles: Fixed Composite, Adjustable Composite
Outer Hand Diameter: 34 mm–37 mm depending on handle, refer to diameter chart
Texture: Moderately firm rubber texture
Maintenance: Durable and does not show dirt
Bare Core
Compatible Handles: Adjustable Composite
Outer Hand Diameter: 30 mm
Texture: To be used with another manufacturer’s grips
Maintenance: Allows other grips to be used with adjustable composite handle
Varnished Wood
- Available on ultralight shafts only
- Two sizes: 31.5 mm, 34 mm diameter
- Traditional basswood
- To be used with one of the following grip options:
- Ice Blue Rubber and Azure Blue Rubber
- Black Rubber
Untreated Wood
- 39 mm diameter
- Traditional basswood
- Can be sanded or scored as desired, no grip needed
