How To Use Your DYNO Force Monitor

The instructions in this section apply to the DYNO Force Monitor.

The DYNO Force Monitor turns on automatically when you begin lifting or when you press On/Off.

The DYNO Force Monitor turns off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity or when you press On/Off.

Terminology

  • Rep—Short for repetition. Each press or pull that you do is one rep.
  • Set—A group of reps is called a set.
DYNO Force Monitor

Top Left

  • Counts down the three warm-up reps.
  • Shows the elapsed time for the set and the rest, when the Timer button is pressed during a workout.

Top Right

  • Shows how many reps you have done.

Center

  • During each set, this shows the average force (in pounds or kgs) you exerted during the last rep.
  • After each set (that is, 10 seconds after the last rep is completed), this shows the average force of all the reps in the set.

Lower Left

  • Shows your maximum force for the set in pounds or kgs.
  • Also displays the following units if you press Display during your workout (consecutively press Display to cycle through the various units):
    • Watts
    • Work (newton-meters)
    • Velocity (mm/sec)
    • Load
    • Heart rate

Lower Right

  • During each set, this shows the amount of time that’s elapsed since the last rep.
  • After each set (that is, 10 seconds after the last rep is completed), this shows the number of completed sets.

The DYNO Force Monitor counts down the first three reps you do as warm-up reps, during which no force data is displayed. This allows you to start every set with three easy warm-up reps.

At any time during a workout or when viewing results (set summary screens only), press Display to change which units are shown in the lower left of the screen (consecutively press Display to cycle through the various units):

  • Max Watts (this is the default)
  • Watts
  • Work (newton-meters)
  • Velocity (mm/sec)
  • Load
  • Heart rate

During a workout, press OK and the up arrow to cycle the weight between pounds and kilograms.

The next time the monitor powers up, it will display the units you last used.

The monitor determines that your set is finished if ten seconds elapses since the beginning of the last rep without another rep occurring. You can watch the rep timer in the lower right display to be sure you start your next rep within ten seconds, unless you are done with your set. Your set summary data will automatically be displayed ten seconds after completion of your last rep.
