The instructions in this section apply to the PM2 and the PM2+.
The Performance Monitor turns on automatically when you begin rowing or if you press On/Off.
The PM turns off automatically after about four minutes of inactivity or if you press On/Off.
The Performance Monitor displays the following information:
The PM2/PM2+ contains two built-in odometers: one that resets automatically and one that doesn’t.

To view drag factor on the Performance Monitor:
To turn drag factor off, repeat the above sequence.
A brand new indoor rower will have a drag factor of about 90–100 at a damper setting of 1 and about 210–220 at a damper setting of 10.
The Performance Monitor contains a built-in function that allows the PM to perform a test of the display, including all the segments. To initiate this test:
To end the test, press On/Off.
The Performance Monitor takes two AA batteries.
For instructions on replacing the batteries, refer to PM2/PM2+ Battery Removal and Replacement(PDF).
Use Automatic Mode when you want to do a workout without a preset distance or time. To use the Performance Monitor in Automatic Mode, simply start rowing. The PM will come on and begin displaying your workout data.
After your workout when you have stopped rowing, the PM will shut off after about four minutes of inactivity. You can also press On/Off to turn the PM off.
When the Performance Monitor powers up, splits are off by default. To turn splits on:
To turn splits off, repeat the above sequence.
You can set up custom time or distance intervals for split measurement. Custom splits are not retained if the Performance Monitor shuts off.
At any time during a preset distance or time workout, you can successively press Display until “PROJ” appears above your workout time or distance. This display shows your projected finish (time or distance) if you were to keep up your present pace.
The Performance Monitor stores your most recent workout in memory, even if the PM is turned off. To view your workout, press Recall.
The first time you press Recall, the PM displays the end result of your workout. Each successive press displays information for the previous split or interval for up to 20 splits or intervals, and “Split” will appear on the screen. You can also use the right arrow button to cycle through splits or intervals. Click the up arrow to show information for the next split or interval in succession.
When viewing splits or intervals, you can also access additional information:
Indoor rowers with PM2s cannot be connected together so racing with a computer is not possible.
To race with PM2s:
If you have PM2+s you can use the e-Row software, a deprecated Concept2 software that was an interactive training software compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows XP computers. While Concept2 can answer questions regarding the e-Row software, the software itself is no longer being actively updated or supported. If you are running a large race, Concept2 recommends using PM5s and either the ErgRace software, or ErgRace Online application.
